THE RECENT RESTORATIONS

The finishing of the restorations and the prize IntraLuoghi

The integrated plan GOLETO ABBEY has been realized from 2005 to 2008 cofinanced by POR Campania 2000-2006. On the millenary places of the ex-monastic citadel the agreement of programme among the Superintendence, Town Council and Archdiocese – with the planning and the management of the works of the architect Angelo Verderosa – has aimed at joining actions whether of public or of private type, with the aim to riqualify and to fit out for a multicultural fruition places that were neglected. Finishing repair and functional adaptation of the Abbey, recovery of the before space invaso, wine bars: topics and various plan scales; repair, urban furnishing, architecture of insides, integrated communication; new marks of architecture interpret a place of millenary stratification and still nowadays in perennial transformation.

The plan of finishing received the national prize of architecture INTRALUOGHI in December 2007 and prize of restoration INARCH Campania in 2010.

Le complétement des restaurations et le prix IntraLuoghi

Le projet intégré Abbayé du Goleto a été réalisé depuis l’an 2005 jusqu’à l’an 2008 cofinancé par POR Campania 2000 – 2006. Sur les millénaires lieux de l’ex citadelle monastique l’accord de programme entre la Surintendance, Maire et Archidiocèse à travers le projet et la direction des travaux de l’arch. Angelo Verderosa, a cherché à joindre des actions soit à caractère public soit à caractère privé, avec l’objectif de redéfinir et équiper pour la jouissance multi-culturelle des lieux qui étaient dans un état d’abandon. Complétement, restauration et réajustement de la contenance spatiale d’en face, wine bar des thèmes et des escaliers de projet différents, restauration, mobilier urbain, architecture d’intérieurs, communication intégrée, de nouveaux signes d’Architecture interprètent un lieu de stratification millénaire et encore aujourd’hui en éternelle transformation.

Le projet de complétement, a reçu, au mois de décembre 2007, le Prix national d’architecture INTRALUOGHI.

Die Fertigstellung der Restaurierungen und der Preis „Intraluoghi“

Das integrierte Projekt GOLETO ABTEI wurde vom Jahr 2005 bis 2008 durchgeführt ,von POR Kampanien mit finanziert. Die Vereinbarung unter dem Amt für Denkmalspflege, der Gemeinde und der Erzdiözese strebte an, öffentliche und private Aktionen zu verabreden – dank der Planung und der Leitung der Arbeiten von dem Architekten Angelo Verderosa – mit dem Ziel, diese Gebäude auszurüsten und aufzuwerten, die verwahrlost waren.

Fertigstellung, Restaurierung und funktionelle Anpassung der Abtei, Wiedergewinnung des gegenüberliegenden Terrains, wine-bar sind Themen und verschiedene Projekte.

Restaurierung, Stadtplanung, Innenarchitektur, integrierte Kommunikation sind neue architektonische Elemente, die einen tausendjährigen Ort deuten, der sich auch heute noch ständig verändert.

Das Fertigstellungsprojekt gewann, im Dezember 2007, der Nationalpreis für Architektur INTRALUOGHI.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PLAN

The integrated project carried out at Goleto has involved and reinterpreted numerous parts of the monastic whole and of the rural spaces near it, establishing a dialogue with the place, creating new spaces, new suggestions, new ways, new visions, new places. The new carried out handmanufactured articles (wallings, floors, coverings, stairs, pavings, fittings) all artisan, designed and made on the stocks, with material of the place, with the mortars derived from the smashing of the stones and crocks found there, integrate themselves with the altirpin territory, reinterpreting nature and history in a new contemporaneous scenery.

The proposed intervention prevides the repair of a “spatial pot” for the public placed in the rural district surrounding the Goleto Abbey. The Goleto site, for its historical and archaeological importance, holds primary importance for the commune of S.Angelo dei Lombardi and the whole altirpin territory for increasing tourism in the territory. The intervention will be made in an area of 5,000 square metres. The restored “spatial pot” will exploit better a monument of great historical importance, dating back to 1130, a true jewel of the medieval architecture of middle-southern Italy; Pot and Abbey form, therefore, an architectonic, urbanistic and naturalistic context of remarkable value. Memory of the white dried in the sun rural spaces where the fairs of cattle took place; the calcareous gravel has been rematerialized with the stone little cubes of Bisaccia; slabs and basoli of Fontanarosa, pebbles of the river Ofanto; lime-trees – loved and imported by the Longobards – on the southern edge, in the valley; canal made of stones and play of water that recover for natural waterfall the sources of the Abbey recovered upriver.

Materials

Irpin stone hand-made by the craftsmen of Fontanarosa and Bisaccia, solid chestnut-wood from the forests of Montella, stones and cobbles and crocks recovered from the ruins, re-used and/or ground to make mortars and pavings of crushed-cobble. Materials and works synthesis among history, place and local culture; with the aim of giving back value to the architecture, without beeing prisoners of memory, grafting new into old as they do with vines.
